Information about the Regatta:
This Regatta is particularly well supported by the southern rowing schools, who are looking for practice prior to Henley.
The only problem is that due to the very narrow stretch of river at this point there are often numerous disqualifications due to blade clashes
Parking on the grass by the river. There are charges for both the car and number of occupants, as well as a programme charge
The viewing for the Regatta is good as the course is only 500 meters long and as the river is very narrow, the crews are close to the bank. Mown fields border the river so picnicking along the river’s edge is delightful, but bring a parasol if it is a hot day as there are very few trees. Numerous schools erect marquees next to the official ones, which provides a welcome source of shade for their rowers.
Cycling along the course is easy at the start, but difficult near the finish, as there is little space between the river and the marquees.
Refreshments – There is a BBQ at the Regatta and excellent rolls, cakes, drinks, ice-creams etc provided in the marquees close to the finish.
